Terms of Service

You must be at least 13 years old to use Epitree, or at least 16 if you live in Europe. We ask your age when you first use the service.

If you are under 18, you may use Epitree only with the permission of a parent or guardian, who agrees to these terms on your behalf. Paid plans for anyone under 18 must be bought by a parent or guardian.

You sign in with Google or with a link sent to your email. Keep access to that account and email secure, and tell us at support@epitree.com if you think someone else has used your Epitree account. You are responsible for what happens in your account.

Epitree is for your own learning. Please don’t:

• store or share anything illegal, harmful, or that you don’t have the right to;
• try to get around plan limits, overload the service, or use it to generate content in bulk for other purposes;
• access Epitree by automated means other than the browser extension, or try to break into it or into other people’s accounts.

We may refuse to generate content that our moderation check flags, and we may suspend accounts that break these rules.

The words, sentences, notes and other content you save remain yours. You give us permission to store and process them, including with the AI providers listed in our Privacy Policy, only to provide Epitree to you.

When you create a share link, anyone who has it can view that branch and copy it into their own account. Share only what you are happy for others to see. To remove a link, email support@epitree.com.

Definitions, quiz questions, explanations and trees are written by AI and can be wrong or incomplete. You can edit definitions yourself. Check anything important against a reliable source, especially before an exam.

The Free plan costs nothing. Paid plans are billed monthly or yearly in advance and renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. Each plan’s limits are shown on our pricing page.

• Cancelling: you can cancel at any time on the Plan page. Your plan keeps working until the end of the period you have paid for, and you won’t be charged again. You can undo a cancellation until then.
• Upgrading: the new plan starts straight away, and the unused part of your current plan is credited or refunded.
• Other changes: moving to a smaller plan or a different billing period starts at your next renewal.
• Refunds: apart from upgrades, we don’t refund the rest of a period you have started, except where the law requires it.
• Price changes: we will tell you at least 30 days before a new price applies to your plan, and you can cancel before it does.

In India, we sell plans to you directly, with prices including GST, and payments are processed by Razorpay. Outside India, plans are sold by Polar (Polar Software, Inc.) as merchant of record: Polar takes the payment, handles sales tax, and its buyer terms also apply to your purchase, including any rights you have under your local law.

You can stop using Epitree at any time, and delete your account from your Profile or by emailing privacy@epitree.com. Deleting your account ends a paid plan straight away and doesn’t refund the rest of the period.

We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms. Unless the reason is unlawful use, we will tell you first and give you a chance to export your words.

We work to keep Epitree available and your data safe, but the service is provided “as is”, without guarantees that it will always be available or free of errors. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn’t allow to be limited, or takes away rights you have as a consumer under the laws of the country where you live.

When we change these terms, we update the effective date at the top. For significant changes, we will email you before they take effect. If you don’t agree, you can stop using Epitree and cancel any paid plan.

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and disputes are heard by the courts at Ernakulam, Kerala, India. If you are a consumer living in the EU or UK, you also keep the protection of your own country’s mandatory laws and can bring a claim in its courts.
